I know exactly what it’s like to feel drained, exhausted, run-down and stressed. Anxiety is my bff, and there have been days I couldn’t even get up off my couch.
So let me just say it: I get you.
Life isn’t as easy as we were led to believe as children. Grow up, get a job, have a family and live happily ever after – that was the “dream”, right?
For so many of us, this path is far from reality. The road is much more like a mountainous hike through a thick jungle as opposed to a paved pathway filled with sunshine and rainbows.
Instead, we struggle with:
- Constant stress that never seems to end
- Binge eating
- Sugar cravings
- Anxiety and mood swings
- Constant overwhelm
- Constipation or diarrhea
- Irregular periods
- and more…
Can you identify with any of these symptoms?
I sure can, because truthfully, they’re way too common. But I want to assure you – you don’t have to feel this way forever. If you’re burnt out and drained from life, there is a way out. I promise.
This is my story:
I have always been a perfectionist, and grew up believing that my career would make me happy. If I kicked-butt, worked hard, and gave it everything I had, I would be successful, right? Not exactly. I was 25 years old and burnt out, with tummy troubles, anxiety, and exhaustion. Every night I would fall asleep on the couch at 7pm, even if I was watching my favourite show.
I quickly realized this was not a way to live. It was completely unsustainable.
After my medical doctor told me I was perfectly healthy (nope!), I explored the realm of natural healing. I learned that I was suffering from adrenal fatigue (burnout), which can come as a result of excess and chronic stress. Burnout triggered all of my symptoms, and can trigger all of those I listed above – exhaustion, anxiety, weight gain, cravings, hormonal imbalances like irregular periods or PMS symptoms, acne, and more.
Burnout taught me that it was crucial to take care of my mind and body before things got worse.
For months I implemented lifestyle and dietary changes, and eventually I overcame my burnout in a healthy, natural way.
Inspired by everything I had learned, I enrolled in school to become a Certified Nutritional Practitioner (CNP). I recognized that food had immense healing properties and was critical in any wellness journey. I wanted to learn more about how nutrition could impact my overall health.
But then I burnt out again.
Shortly after recovering from my first run-in with adrenal fatigue, I learned that my brother was diagnosed with cancer – which really threw my health into a tailspin.
After a year and a half of chronic lifestyle stress from his treatments, part-time school, a full-time job, buying my first home and planning a move, my body said “no more”. I burnt out for a second time. This time, my symptoms were much more severe and I was forced to take time off work to recover.
It’s been two years since healing from my most recent burnout, and I am healthier and happier than I’ve ever been. I’ve learned how to manage stress in a healthy way, and realized the importance of food, mindset and lifestyle in a proper healing protocol.
As a holistic nutritionist and wellness advocate, I want to empower women like you who are struggling with stress, exhaustion, burnout, cravings and more.
I share my story to remind you that nothing is impossible, and that our health is in our hands. Our bodies are designed to heal themselves, they just need our support.

Kelly Maia Agnew, CNP, ROHP, RNCP is a holistic nutritionist with a passion for supporting individuals on their journey to optimal health. Originally graduating from university with a marketing degree, she began a corporate career in buying for a large corporation. After neglecting her health and quickly burning out, she was motivated to make a career change. She chose to study with the Institute of Holistic Nutrition, and graduated in November 2017 with First Class Honours.
Kelly is the founder of Kelly Maia Nutrition, an online wellness company where she aims to empower and inspire women on their journey to healthy living. After experiencing adrenal fatigue twice in a short period of time, she has learned the importance of slowing down and supporting the body with a holistic approach to diet and lifestyle. She believes that nutrition is the foundation of health, and through supportive nutritional practices we can all thrive with energy, vitality and happiness.
As a part of her online business, Kelly runs her signature online group program From Burnt Out to Balanced throughout the year. In addition to her work online, she consults with clients 1-on-1, delivers presentations around the Ottawa area, and engages with the health and wellness community on a regular basis.
